“What on earth are you doing?” Oliver gasped as they shot through the door and into the street.

“High – what’s it called? That thing that cowboys do,” he slurred drunkenly back. “Hightailing it! That’s the ticket.”

“I don’t think cowboys do that,” Oliver protested.

I'm moving to Greece this winter.
:D

I love Athens. Last time there was a guy in the street named Detroit Jimmy and he was playing guitar and he had a sign that said he was there looking for his Greek cousins. He started talking to us and all of five seconds later my friend was like, "OH YOU'RE AMERICAN?"

I'll be living in Lamia, but it's Athens-ho for school next fall.

Anyway. I love having plans.

In other news, NaNo is going swimmingly, though I'm just barely above where I ought to be. Two of my threads have been on the front page "procrastination station" bit, which made me all floopy. >:D

I made a wordle for my NaNo so far. Instead of, you know...writing.

The "li" combination in this font looks like a "u" sometimes. I swear...that's "like," not "uke."

My leg died. Either I pulled my Achilles tendon or fractured my fibula, in my EXPERT MEDICAL OPINION even though I didn't do anything to it, what the hell leg. So that's that.

Andrew Bird & St. Vincent concert next week, glglgllgfslg awesome. History will be ditched. Ughh but I heard about a Dirty Projectors concert too late to get tickets sobbb. Still, Mountain Goats & Final Fantasy next month yesss.

I bought two typewriters today. That brings my total to four. What? What? Why do I own four typewriters? Answer: it doesn't matter, it's just cool that I can buy replacement ribbons at Staples. I'm going to be so hardcore and write on them next month in a week AHHH.

Why can't I write about anything interesting ahhh. This is just me talking to myself you know. Sarah stufufuf.

Here's some stuff I love & is relevant to my life right now:

Jim Croce - I got a naaaame~
Johnny Rivers - L'S THERE'S A MAN WHO LEADS A LIFE OF DANGER
Tom Jones - why why whyyyy delilaah~

my brand new 160gb ipod asdjfhlaksdg, I filled up my last one what the HECK
Professor Layton
cupcakes
cutting my bangs
Rob Brydon singing Tom Jones songs
team fortress 2

The other day at the bookstore I bought a Koran, a Bible, and Watchmen. The cashier was like, "...........W-Watchmen is cool." It was funny.

That was set up like a joke. The ending must have been disappointing! Oh god you guys, did you know I have the WORST sense of humor in the world? Seriously no lie. Here's my favorite joke EVER. (except for "The Zen master goes to the hot dog vendor and says, make me one with everything.")

OKAY

So you know how sometimes geese fly in a V?

(yes)

K, and you know how sometimes one side of the V is longer than the other?

(yes)

Do you know why?

(no)

Because

there are more geese on that side -______-

http://www.thesixtyone.com

This site is amazing. It makes me so happy. It's a music site! Artists upload their songs, and you sort of...react to them. It's a really involved, cool process, with quests and reputation and hearts and whatnot. And you can purchase songs with money that goes directly to the artist. But dudes it's SO COOL. The music is awesome and I just commented on
this brilliant song, which just happened to be the first thing I heard upon entering the website, and the artist replied on my page ajkfhadlkfg. I love this site.

It's free, awesome music, and you get to interact with the artists and influence what gets popular. And it's really fun.

I'm inktree, if you decide to join!

P.S. It's a little like http://www.colourlovers.com/ in format - is anyone a member there, too?

And I say your uncle was a crooked French Canadian!
And he was gut-shot running gin
And how his guts were all suspended in his fingers
And how he held em, how he held em, held em in!

July, July! - The Decemberists

Haha that was kind of gross, sorry.

I'm getting really excited for NaNo! My story is about an 11 year-old boy named Oliver who accidentally kills almost everyone in one fell swoop! It's not his fault. It's the fault of a little old lady named Miss Prospectina Bergen, who is the dead teacher of Pitrick O'Flaggerty, who thinks she is much more dead than she actually is. It's Pitrick's job to go see what on earth this kid Oliver thinks he's doing, and make sure that he doesn't do it again. And that no one kidnaps him or anything. And the best way to ensure that is to kidnap him himself. Only Oliver doesn't quite realize that's what's happened. He thinks they're going to file a complaint with the governor - his orphanage has up and vanished, you see. (He's not an orphan - he just lived there.) It's all very upsetting. On the way they are pestered by a number of girls, including one who is an expert at brewing teas - so good that by the end, she can turn them into people! (Darjeeling is something of a cad.) There is also a girl who is very good at pretending to be a boy, much to Pitrick's chagrin. And that's really just the beginning...

The following also feature importantly: typewriters. Saint Magnus of Fussen, the patron saint against caterpillars. Wishyfish. Waistcoats, top hats, and pocket watches. The Nemean Lion. Involuntary eyepatches. A Magical Orphanage for Incurably Interesting Boys. Ponytails. Coups. Thieving. Tomfoolery. Lies. Nonsense. Mistakes. Hopscotch.

I am ever so jealous of people who can write about normal things.

This entry was composed laying on my stomach above the covers, scratching a bugbite on my ankle

They can take our bones
and bury them deep under the river
but we'll still be together
and we cannot be defeated

They can take our trombones
and pack them down there with us
but no matter how long it takes us
we will not be defeated

When we dance we dance together
Under the moon and under the weather
We will lock our eyes forever in the night

They can take our bones
and bury them deep under the river
but we'll still be together
and we cannot be defeated

They can take our fists
and chop them off at the wrists
and we will shake our rumps with bloody stumps
And we can not be defeated

When we dance we dance together
Under the moon and under the weather
We will shake our rumps forever in the night

Rock Central Plaza - "Anthem for the Already Defeated"

Internet is close to lost cause. Sorry if I'm supposed to be talking to you and I'm not. I still think you're the bee's knees, cat's pyjamas, etc. etc.

I think I will take this time to say silly things, because I am a silly person and being here means either being too dumb or too serious and I'm a little tired.

Are any of you religious? I want to be like that kid in Life of Pi and join three different religions without realizing why that's wrong. Except I just want to be a Catholic and a Muslim. All I really like is the feeling of cathedrals and the sound of recitations but I think there is more they expect of you than falling in love with the frankincense-tree.

I have bruises on my index fingers from writing on a typewriter, and from carrying it up flights of stairs to my room. I like the way the ink smells bad, and when it clacks so loud my ears hurt.

I found a King James Version of the Bible but it belonged to my dad. It was from his grandparents and I think he liked it too much for me to use it, so I didn't. I found another one embossed with a name I don't know but in the front where family events are written it says "births: June 7 1998, 2 AM" and on the next page "deaths: June 7 1998, 2 AM" so I feel bad using it.

My wall is invisible now because I have covered it with pictures I printed. They're all very pretty, but I think I was too bold because there are some I love but I'm a little embarrassed to let people in now. A stranger is coming to appraise the house soon. There is a very small picture of my favorite writer next to a girl in a striped shirt saying "RAD," I think he would like it that way,

There are so many things I would like to have done but very few I want to do.

I'm afraid of blood. Yesterday I bought a book because it was bound in old flaky cowhide and I still haven't looked inside of it.

That's all I can think of to say

I just registered for my very first semester of college classes! I'm going to community college for my first year to save money~ and fortunately I already have 38 of the 60 credits required for a degree from AP classes!

Anyway, I just registered. 13 hours! I hope that's not too much! And because I'm a huge dork and way too excited, here's my schedule!

Notes: Health is icky and a required course. Is it normal to have class on a Saturday? The schedule said "S" so I assume that's what that means. I'm going to double major in Linguistics and Zoology once I transfer. All of the language courses they offered seemed to be marked "non-credit/continuing education." Why is that? It's very irritating.

So does it look alright? Manageable? I'm excited but also a little freaked out! I feel so very old.

If you know any Japanese, could you answer some quick questions?

I understand the difference between on'yomi and kun'yomi, but how do you know when to use each? Is the kun'yomi used much more often than the on'yomi? If I'm learning a kanji - for example, 木 - how should I read it? Boku, moku, ki, ko? Which reading is "principal" or "default"? - like if you saw 木 is there a single pronunciation that would come to mind? Should I just keep all of them in mind?

Sorry if these are dumb questions 8< !

edit: and is there a difference between when you would use 林 and 森 (and 森林)?

Lyric Meme - snatched from [info]forthrightly

1: Put your music player on shuffle.
2: Post the first line from the first 20 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing.
3: Put the songs in bold when someone guesses both artist and track correctly.
4: Looking them up on Google or any other search engine is CHEATING!
5: If you like the game, post your own.

i love all of these songs )

This is almost definitely an exercise in futility because I have the weirdest music library ever. Good luck! I will forever admire you if you spot any you know!
